Idea for

How might we enrich video with other resources or experiences so that it better supports your practice?

In Stage 1, we heard that watching a video by itself isn’t often helpful.

Using Video in Special Education Programs

I would love to have access to classroom teacher video of techniques to use in the special education setting. This could be useful in two ways: 1) the supporting teacher could learn the techniques and concepts presented in the classroom and break them down for the students who struggle 2) the special education teacher would be able to enhance and scaffold the content and share it back with the classroom teacher so that he or she could better help students in the classroom setting.

Dawn, thank you so much for joining the RDC and for your idea. I think this is certainly a need in education right now. Can you elaborate on how these videos would be curated and collected? Also, I would encourage you to look at Heidi G's idea about a similar idea.

My vision is that classroom teachers would video the lesson content or teachers using a flipped classroom would provide the special education teacher with access to the videos, The special education teacher, in return, could provide video of an enhanced lesson. If the special education students benefit from it, others in the class may as well. I would also hope that the video exchanges could open up actual conversations and collaborations between regular education and special education teachers.
