How might we make professional development videos easier to find?

In Stage 1, you shared that it can be challenging finding videos that not only fit into your schedule, but also match the subject, grade level, or practice you’re looking for.

Up Periscope!

Innovation Specialist Christy Cate just finished her third Periscope stream of 6th graders working on an island survival activity. The raw nature of the video showing experiential learning engaging on a visceral level. What if adult PD was like that? Periscope it out to the world AND record it for later playback or use in other online/blended training (webinars?) programs.

Potential Impact

People would be engaged on several levels: content, people doing stuff, maybe spotting someone they know, and how real it looks. Engagement is movement is learning.

Possible Implementation

1. Someone breaks out the Periscope app on their mobile device and streams an activity (as opposed to a lecture) out to the world. This could probably be done shaky-cam style as well using a camera app. 2. The stream could be saved for later playback or included in a web or online based training application for later use. 3. After a video has been shown the people in the room apply what they learn, perhaps even making their own stream.
