Our staff recently use videos from the Teaching Channel to look at ways other schools use learning targets. The use of videos helped show us good examples of how other schools made the transitions to using target that we are currently going through. It is nice to see other examples rather that just seeing them in a book. It can be hard to find examples that fit your specific genre of teaching but at least seeing into others classrooms make the learning more meaningful

Welcome to the Redesign Challenge! I'm Val, one of the community managers. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I am curious about what happened after the staff watched the Teaching Channel video. Was the expectation to implement? Did teachers revisit the video through discussion and/or examining student work? Whatever you can add will be great insight. Thanks!

The view of videos was to reinforce the district movement towards using learning targets and how they should be used in the classroom. The staff did discuss what they noticed the day of viewing. Teachers were expected to improve implementation. Seemed to be little follow up after the original meeting date. Although principals have discussed learning targets with individual teachers after observations.

Thanks Todd! Your post is definitely make me think about how important the "after the video" time is used. I am looking forward to reading more of your ideas.
