Experience

I actually just participated in a live mock-interview, as the interviewee, for #ptchat and #ntchat. It provided an opportunity for many of us to interact all at once. It was rather nerve-wracking being able to see myself in an interview and also see the reactions of multiple people; however, it was a great learning opportunity! I also am lucky enough to have a video recording to review how to interview even better the next time! I highly recommend videotaping yourself to see how your present yourself. It's a wonderful opportunity for growth. If anyone is interested, I attached the link to my blog post about this opportunity, which also has a link to the video.

What or who encouraged you to videotape yourself? What would you say to other teachers/educators to convince them?

I LOVE this story. What a great way to reflect on a skill that all too often we don't practice very much because we don't use it too often. Thank you for sharing.

HI Lyndsay, welcome to the RDC! I just had a phone interview the other day and was reflecting on the way home about how I answered the questions. Wish I been able to read your post a week ago. Definitely going to use this idea in the future.

I also just had a phone interview. I struggled with out the person to person contact. I wonder if skype/google hangouts will replace the phone interview process.

Some are already interviewing via Skype / GHO / Link. I agree that the face to face contact is so much more beneficial in an interview. We lose the power of body language and facial expressions when we can't see each other - so much information lost. Video-based interviews are helping to put human-centered interactions back into play.
